Madrid Stock Market

The Madrid stock market is also known as the Bolsa de Madrid. This exchange is part of the Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles (BME), which is composed of Spain's main stock exchanges in Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona and Valencia. This merger led to a larger, consolidated market that could compete on an international level. Out of these four stock exchanges, the Madrid stock market is the largest. The international market in the Madrid stock market is the most diverse of the four exchanges.

The three main sections of the Madrid stock market include stock markets, the public debt market, and the futures and options markets. The Spanish Stock Market Interconnection System (SIBE) is the main trading system of the Madrid stock market. Over 90% of all the transactions in the Madrid Stock Market are handled by SIBE. Trading hours for SIBE users are between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Traditional open outcry trade is also done between 10:00 and 11:30 AM. In cooperation with Internaxx, the Madrid stock market opened itself up to online trading. The main index of the Madrid stock market is the IBEX-35, featuring the 35 most traded Spanish stocks on the market. This is the benchmark index of the Madrid stock market.
