The NASDAQ stock market is a stock exchange located in New York. As of the first week of June 2008, the NASDAQ stock market had approximately 3,200 company listings. The NASDAQ stock market operates in numerous stock exchanges in the United States, Europe and Dubai. This makes the NASDAQ stock market one of the world's largest stock markets based on company listings and per day trading volume. Out of the approximated 3,200 company listings on the NASDAQ stock market, non-US companies account for about 335 listings.

The NASDAQ stock market is the largest electronic stock market in America. Three time slots are allotted for trading based on Eastern Time. From 7:00 to 9:30 in the morning is the pre-market trading hours. After that, normal market hours take place from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM are the after-market hours. Quotes on the NASDAQ stock market are available in three levels. The first level shows the lowest offer and the highest bid. Level two shows market maker public quotes as well as information on the latest transactions and possible transactions of market makers. The third level is for entry of quotes and execution of orders by market makers. The main indexes of the NASDAQ stock market are the NASDAQ Composite, NASDAQ-100 and NASDAQ Biotechnology Index.
