Korea Stock Market
The Korea stock market is the home of Korea Exchange (KRX). The Korea stock market is the the world's fifteenth largest exchange in terms of market capitalisation. In 2005, the Korea stock market had a turnover of more that 230%, gaining it the rank of second in the world in terms of turnover. The Korea stock market gained more recognition in December 2005 when the accumulated transaction volume was over 40 billion US dollars, making it second in Asia. With its policy of "40 percent foreign investor," the Korea stock market is geared towards internationalism and diversification. Since 2005, the Korean Stock Market has shown interest in the Chinese market.
The Korea stock market handles stocks, bonds, exchange traded funds (ETF) and real estate investment trusts (REIT). At the end of 2006, the Korea Stock Market hosted the trades of nearly 1,700 companies. These companies combined for a total market value of over 830 billion US dollars. As of March 2007, 60% of the 1,600 companies listed on the Korean stock market were manufacturing companies. In August of 2007, the first foreign company was listed on the Korean stock market. The main indexes of the Korea stock market are the KOSPI 200 Index Futures, KOSTAR Futures and KOSPI 200 Options.
